The Script Pipeline

I'm writing about a successful small startup Internet company who privately financed their own software development.  It's a great and ethical example for those corporations who say writing their own software is too expensive. The Script Pipeline, runs an enormous ColdFusion based web application for screenwriters.   Their recent success stories include Evan Daugherty selling "Snow White and the Huntsman" to Universal for $3 million and Micah Barnett selling "The Rabbit" to Warner Bros. for six-figures.  The Living Wake, Script Pipeline's first produced film, starring Academy Award-nominee Jesse Eisenberg, premiered in 2010.  If you are looking for screenwriting guidance, I cannot recommend a better group of people.

And they are not the only ones, nearly all major corporations are investing in writing their own software.  They are not doing it for the sheer joy of code; it's a sound investment in people and production which more than pays for itself.
